“Running Man,” Equilibrium,” and “Four Christmases”

The first in hopefully a many a post about awesome movies.

Running Man” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (1987)

Speak of the devil!  This horribly cheesy romp through a dystopia loosely (and I mean loosely) based upon the Stephen King novel of the same name, or rather Bachman’s novel of the same name.  It has some ‘great’ lines and some crazy villains, but it still remains one of my favorite Schwarzenegger films.

Equilibrium” starring Christian BaleSean Bean, and Taye Diggs (2002)

I swear Sean Bean is in everything!  This is one of my favorite films, and I’ve perused its frames several times now.  This one kind of flew under the radar for a lot of people, but to put it simply “Equilibrium” meshes Orwell’s “1984” and the Wachowski brother’s “Matrix” into an awesome cinematic adventure that depicts a gloomy dystopia (who would have thought a dystopia would be gloomy?) filled with woefully repressed individuals who just want to find an emotion while not warring.  Bale’s acting is stellar as always, and the action sequences never get old.  Netflix this one if you get a chance.

Four Christmases” starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn (2008)

I began the new year by watching “Four Christmases.”  I wanted something light-hearted and amusing, and “Four Christmases” delivered famously.  Vince Vaughn always cracks me up and he didn’t disappoint.  The two of them were absolutely hilarious and I will forever crack up when a baby spits up.  Definitely a ‘must-see’ for the holidays.
